Backend / Platform Developer Consultant

Job Summary

Bitovi is seeking an experienced Backend / Platform Developer Consultant to join a fully remote team based in the United States. The role focuses on building durable, distributed systems for enterprise clients, primarily using Java, Temporal for workflow orchestration, Kafka for event streaming, and Kubernetes-native platform engineering on AWS. You will own both the code and the underlying infrastructure, designing and operating large‑scale, production‑grade services that deliver reliable and observable outcomes. Key responsibilities include developing Java services and Temporal workflows, designing Kafka event pipelines, and architecting Kubernetes workloads on AWS. You will plan and execute modernization projects, migrate workloads between clusters and clouds, and implement CI/CD pipelines with GitOps principles. In addition, you’ll consult with clients on platform strategy, guide them through new technology adoption, and contribute to the growth of Bitovi’s internal developer platform. The position requires a deep understanding of distributed systems, strong skills in Java or other backend languages, and hands‑on experience with Temporal, Kafka, and AWS/Kubernetes. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and a systems‑engineering mindset are essential. Although remote, the role involves occasional travel and expects the ability to work across time zones.
