Engineering Manager – Scheduling Team

Job Summary

Doctolib is building the leading e‑health platform in Europe, handling billions of appointments each year. They are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a small, high‑performing team of 6‑7 backend engineers in the Scheduling division. The role involves owning end‑to‑end delivery, quality, and production health while shaping the technical direction of the scheduling services. Key responsibilities include leading architecture reviews, migrating core scheduling capabilities from a monolithic Ruby on Rails stack to purpose‑built Kotlin services, and embedding AI‑assisted engineering practices. The manager will also recruit, develop, and retain talent, partner with product teams to define mission and roadmap, and continuously improve team processes. Candidates should have at least 6 years of software engineering experience and 3 years of engineering management, with expertise in distributed systems, data modelling, latency, and throughput. Experience modernising legacy systems, working in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech, and understanding the trade‑offs in hyper‑growth environments are highly desirable. The role is based in Berlin, Germany and offers a full‑time position with a competitive benefits package including a fully paid Deutschlandticket and 28 vacation days plus additional days per year of employment.
