Payment Posting Specialist

Job Summary

The role involves posting and reconciling insurance and patient payments for healthcare clients. Responsibilities include processing ERAs, EOBs, EFTs, checks, and patient payments, applying contractual adjustments, and identifying discrepancies. The specialist must review electronic remittance files, allocate payments accurately, and investigate unmatched or unapplied payments to ensure financial activity is correctly reflected in practice management systems. Key duties also cover payment reconciliation, comparing bank deposits with system records, handling denied claims, and maintaining documentation. The position requires strong numerical, data‑entry, and attention‑to‑detail skills, with experience in medical billing, Medicare/Medicaid, and electronic remittance processing. The specialist collaborates with A/R, denial management, and billing teams and escalates significant discrepancies to the Operations Manager. The role is essential to the revenue cycle, ensuring accurate patient responsibility and credit balance management.
