West Bengal Chief Minister has announced a compensation package of ₹9 lakh for the families affected by recent floods in Sabang, a region in North 24 Parganas. The initiative aims to provide immediate financial relief to households that suffered property damage and livelihood losses. The announcement was made during a press conference in the state capital, with assurances of swift disbursement through local authorities. The move comes amid growing calls for better disaster management and support for vulnerable communities.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal announced today that families who lost homes or assets due to the severe flooding in Sabang will receive a compensation of ₹9 lakh each. The decision was taken to help those affected cope with the immediate aftermath of the floods that struck the North 24 Parganas district earlier this month.

During the press briefing in Kolkata, the Governor said the compensation will be released through the local municipal bodies, ensuring quick access to the funds. The CM added that the state will also expedite the rehabilitation process for damaged houses and infrastructure.

The announcement follows widespread criticism over the handling of the floods and demands for faster relief measures. Authorities have pledged to monitor the distribution closely to prevent any misuse of the allocated amount.
