The West Bengal Medical Council announced today that it has cancelled the registration of five doctors whose applications were found to contain forged MBBS certificates. During the routine verification of credentials, the council identified inconsistencies that indicated the degrees were not issued by a recognized medical institution.

Council officials emphasized that the authenticity of medical qualifications is essential for maintaining professional standards and patient safety. They said the decision was taken after thorough scrutiny of the documents and in accordance with state regulations.

The five doctors had applied to register under the state’s medical registration scheme. The council added that it will continue to review other pending applications to ensure that all registered practitioners meet the required educational qualifications.
