The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 30-year-old IT engineer from Bengaluru for allegedly issuing threats via emails and calls to several Mumbai film personalities, including Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor. The arrest was reported on November 4, and the suspect is scheduled to be produced before a court on November 5.

The accused, identified as Vaibhav Mishra, was located in Bengaluru after law enforcement officers traced the IP address used to send the threatening messages. Over recent days, Mishra allegedly targeted various individuals in the film industry using multiple communication methods.

Investigators suspect that artificial intelligence may have been used to generate voice samples mimicking an alleged gang member, although no forensic report confirming the use of AI has been made public. Mumbai Police have clarified that Mishra has no connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation into the motive behind the threats, potential extortion demands, and whether additional individuals were targeted.
