Maharashtra Govt Orders Probe into Land Transfer to Premier Automobiles

The Maharashtra Revenue Department has set up a nine‑member Special Investigation Team to examine allegations that land earmarked for industrial use in the 1960s was transferred to Premier Automobiles for cattle grazing. The team, led by the Konkan Divisional Commissioner, will investigate potential violations of land‑use regulations and the transformation of the area into a premium real‑estate zone.

The State Revenue Department has announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into claims that land originally designated for industrial development in the 1960s was sold to Premier Automobiles for cattle grazing. The case alleges that the land has since been converted into a high‑end real‑estate area, potentially breaching Maharashtra’s land‑use policies.

The SIT, consisting of nine members, will be headed by the Konkan Divisional Commissioner. Its mandate includes reviewing the original land allotment, the transfer documents, and any subsequent development activities. The investigation aims to determine whether the transfer and subsequent use violated the state’s land‑use regulations.

Premier Automobiles has not yet issued a public statement regarding the allegations. The investigation is expected to shed light on the legality of the transfer and whether any legal action will be pursued against the parties involved.
