Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee extended her solidarity to the CJP leadership and Gen Z activists during an INDIA bloc gathering in New Delhi on Sunday, November 1, 2026, urging all opposition groups and society to join forces to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party and defend democracy.
Addressing the crowd at Ramlila Maidan during a "Save Democracy" march, Ms. Banerjee accused the BJP of manipulating elections and employing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise against opposition-ruled states.
"I am expressing solidarity with the CJP leadership and Gen Z, for their solidarity, support and fighting spirit," she said.
Taking aim at the revision process, Ms. Banerjee described the SIR as "Special Intensive Relief to a party like the BJP" and claimed that her home state had been targeted.
"West Bengal is a victim of the circumstances created by this SIR. We will not spare them. We will fight with our lives. They looted Bengal, but we will save democracy and bring it back," she said, adding: "We did not lose, we were made to lose. We will fight this democratically. You looted jobs, lives and the respect of women. You hijacked the election."
Ms. Banerjee also directly criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, questioning when he would "vanish." Adapting a nursery rhyme to hit out at the poll authority, she recited: "Vote chori, yes papa; loktantra chori, yes papa; loot kiya BJP papa; who is behind the curtain, BJP papa."
Alleging that police personnel had turned into "comrades" of the BJP, the TMC leader argued that the ruling party was dependent on central agencies and institutions to drive its political agenda. Ms. Banerjee urged citizens across different communities and political backgrounds to form a united front, maintaining that the BJP would eventually be voted out.
