Rajasthan’s urban local body elections concluded over two phases, with voting taking place on 9 and 11 September. The elections are regarded as a key test for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress as they gear up for the 2028 state assembly polls.
Preliminary counts indicate that the BJP has edged ahead of Congress, although the margin is modest. Several ward‑level polling stations are still tallying votes, and the final results are expected in the coming days.
Election officials are completing the count in a series of wards across the state. Once the full tally is released, the results will offer both parties insight into voter sentiment and areas requiring strategic focus.
The timing of these local elections, coupled with the pressure they exert on party leadership, makes the outcome a significant indicator for the political landscape in West Bengal and beyond.
