Students from various districts of West Bengal commemorated the 90th anniversary of the Temple Entry Proclamation on Saturday. As part of the celebration, they distributed copies of the 1936 decree to homes and public areas, encouraging people to read and reflect on its significance.
The proclamation, which allowed individuals of all castes to enter temples, marked a pivotal moment in the state’s social reform history. By sharing the document, the students sought to raise awareness of the progress made and the work that remains.
The distribution drive took place in multiple locations, including Kolkata, Howrah, and surrounding districts, underscoring the widespread impact of the reform across the region.
Participants emphasized that keeping the proclamation in public view helps preserve its legacy and inspires continued dialogue about equality and social justice.
